Biography

Adhir completed his PhD at the University of New England, Australia. His PhD work was on the health of left-behind wives using social determinants of health framework: the other side of Nepalese regulated labour migration. This research is multidisciplinary in focus and covers areas such as: public health, migration, community health services and welfare management and social care. In 2012, he started teaching and coordinating health management units as a lecturer at UNE. He also worked as an Assistant Professor of Health Management and Administration at Qassim University, Saudi Arabia, and developed unique Master in Health Insurance and Diploma of Health Insurance programmes for Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. He has several publications, including a book chapter in socio-economic and health issues. He is a member of ACHSM, Saudi Quality Health Association, Nepal Health Professionals Association, the scientific advisory board of the International Journal of Medical Science and Public Health, and Gomal University Journal of Research.

Prior to academic engagement, he was trained as an economist in Nepal, England and the Netherlands. Subsequently, he worked over 26 years as a development practice manager, consultant, Senior Economist and researcher for national and international organisations. He was advisor to the National Planning Commission of Nepal for designing monitoring and evaluation system for the Government of Nepal, funded by the World Bank. Since 2021, he is Advisor, Board Member of the Gender, Resilience and Intersectionality Project in the South Asia Region (UK Funded), 2021.
