Biography
After graduating with honours in Civil Engineering, Judith Burns practised in the area of urban drainage and floodplain management for several years. She came to Urban and Regional Planning through her involvement as a local government councillor in Manly, and undertook the Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning at UNE. Since 1992, Judith has been a partner in a busy multi-disciplinary consulting practice working with Aboriginal communities in western NSW, in the area of housing and infrastructure development, community development planning, regional planning, negotiation of training and employment programmes and enterprise development.

Research Interests
Judith's research interests include urban design, particularly in relation to social exclusion; environmental health; citizenship and participative governance structures; residential mobility; and social housing policy.
