Dr Robert Herd

Biography

Dr Herd is internationally recognised as an expert in animal production science. He is a retired Senior Principal Research Scientist but continues to publish research papers, mentor staff and students and review new research proposals. Robert has over 40 years research experience working to improve the efficiency, profitability and sustainability of beef cattle production. Robert has expertise in nutrition, physiology, genetics and project management. In 2014 he was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Association of Animal Science. His current research interests include: * Genetic improvement of feed efficiency in beef cattle; * Breeding for lower GHG (methane) emissions from beef cattle; and * Profitable and sustainable beef production systems.
