Biography

After a research and management career in Africa, I joined UNE (in 1974) to  teach and research in Wildlife Management, a discipline that has attracted  students ever since awards in natural resource management began at UNE. Current  coursework units in that area include: Australian Wildlife: Evolution, Ecology  and Land-use Impacts (EM 251/561); Wildlife Management (EM 423/523); and  Biological Conservation (EM 453/553).

I have supervised on-campus and off-campus research projects in wildlife  ecology, behaviour and management, for bachelors (B Nat Res, B Sc, & B Env  Sc), diploma (Grad Dip Nat Res), masters (M Res Sc, M Nat Res, M Sc) and  doctoral (Ph D) awards. UNE wildlife graduates now serve in every national parks  service or fauna agency in Australia (and some overseas countries).

In retirement I continue my career-long research interest in the behaviour  and ecology of large mammalian herbivores.
