Biography

Dr Kim Alexander is a Managing Consultant at Bluebird Advisory  where she provides research insights based on her extensive social research conducted in Australia and Southeast Asia and past employment at CSIRO and Australian Universities. She holds the position of  Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University of New England, Australia.  Kim has held senior research positions at CSIRO and at James Cook, Sydney, Melbourne and Wollongong universities. Her research encompasses: food loss and waste, COVID-19 food supply responses, agricultural change, rural and urban development, climate change, water needs and access, transboundary river issues, and mining impacts in Southeast Asia. Kim has also been involved in multidisciplinary research teams exploring important ecological issues in Australia such as sea level rise, climate change, implications of mining, agricultural practices and aspects of population health. Currently, she acts as the lead investigator (PI) of an ACIAR/IRDC Food Loss in Catfish value chains project in the Mekong River Basin including Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR 2021-2024.
