Dr Thomas (Tom) Maxwell

Biography

Tom grew up in Cowra and studied at the University of Sydney after which he worked as a secondary science teacher for one year. Then about a year as a field geologist was followed by travel to the UK for five years. Upon return to Australia and with no teaching position available in the later 1970s, he began work as a research assistant at the Centre for Curriculum Studies, UNE. When that was completed he obtained a three year contract with Macquarie University. He then too a position with the Armidale College of Education and upon amalgamation became a member of the Faculty of Education at UNE where he remained until retirement in 2010. He now lives a full ife at Coffs harbour.
