Stafford Cameron

Biography

I was born in Armidale, but grew up and went to school in Tamworth before beginning university study back in Armidale in 1979. I graduated from UNE with a BA/Dip.Ed. (English/History) in 1983 and entered a 37-year career with the NSW Department of Education. I taught in several regional, rural, and remote locations across NSW, including as Head Teacher English/History at Glen Innes High School and Deputy Principal at Toormina High School. I retired from the DoE in 2021 as the last Principal of Duval High School, and co-Principal of the newly amalgamated Armidale Secondary College.  As part of my leadership development, I also completed an M.Ed. (School Leadership) at UNE in 2017. I started working at UNE as a casual marker in early 2021, before being placed on a fixed-term contract as a relieving Unit Coordinator in the Master of Teaching program (EDUC540.) I was successful in applying for a permanent position as Lecturer in Contextual Studies (Teaching Focus) in June 2022.
