Professor Penelope (Pep) Baker

Biography

Pep leads multiple education, research and development projects, including in the Pacific Region, at the University of New England.  Pep teaches Education to pre-service and in-service teachers within primary, secondary, and post-graduate programs. Pep fondly looks back on her days teaching in rural Australia and leadership of Pacific Island projects, and bring many of these experiences to her current project and research directions. These directions include, enhancing quality mathematics and numeracy education, culturally responsive pedagogies, meaningful assessment practices, international development and partnerships, issues related to regional, rural and remote settings, and building local teacher capacity in Pacific Island Countries.
