Biography

DIANE HANSFORD is a lecturer in English and literacies education, working in teacher education within the School of Education (Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education) at the University of New England (UNE), Armidale. Diane is a member of the English, Literacies and Language Education (ELLE) team, specialising in English and Literacy. Diane is an experienced teacher, having worked in primary schools, universities and in professional development for teachers. Her areas of expertise include primary English, literacy and EAL/D teaching.

Prior to working at UNE, Diane worked as a primary school teacher; English Second Language teacher; Multicultural/ESL Advisor with Catholic Education in Sydney; and Curriculum Consultant K–12 in the northwest region of New South Wales. Diane is currently President of the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA), Northern NSW Local Council.

ALEA is a professional association that provides professional support for teachers of English and literacy. Currently, Diane is President of the ALEA Northern NSW Local Council. This local council provides professional development opportunities for English and literacy educators across the north west of NSW.
