Biography
Diane Hansford is member of the English, Literacies and Language Education team in the School of Education. She is an experienced teacher having worked as a classroom teacher and an English Second Language teacher in primary schools in NSW. Her areas of expertise include primary English, literacy and EAL/D teaching. Prior to working at UNE, she worked with teachers as a Multicultural/ESL Advisor with the Catholic Education Office in Sydney, and moved to Armidale in 1990 to work as a Curriculum Consultant K–12 across the northwest region of New South Wales, for the Catholic Schools Office Armidale . Currently, Diane is the NSW State Director for the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA), and the President of ALEA Northern NSW Local Council.

ALEA is a professional association that provides professional support for teachers of English and literacy. Currently, Diane is President of the ALEA Northern NSW Local Council. This local council provides professional development opportunities for English and literacy educators across the north west of NSW.
