Biography

Beth Boland is a Lecturer in Early Childhood and Primary Education at the University of New England, Tamworth. Her teaching and research focus on connecting educational theory with classroom practice, particularly in literacy education and community partnerships. Currently pursuing doctoral studies, Beth is conducting case study research examining community-based literacy programs in Tamworth, in partnerships with industry. Beth's professional experience since 2004 spans Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary English, Curriculum Leadership, and Higher Education. Her international experience in Jakarta (2014-2018) shaped her understanding of education in evolving global contexts. During this period, Beth worked at an international school and co-founded the Indonesian branch of a non-profit organisation focused on teacher development, where she continues to serve on the board. Her professional goals centre on partnering with educators, contributing rigorous research, and inspiring future teachers through innovative practice that bridges the theory-practice divide. For fun, Beth enjoys taking flying lessons at Tamworth’s local airport.
