About this scholarship

Benefits:

To provide financial assistance to postgraduate researchers in the disciplines of Arts or History to assist in alleviating the costs associated with research. The recipient has the duration of their degree to consume the funds.

About the project:

Dr D R Grey was appointed the first Professor of Philosophy at the University of New England in 1954. He was a distinguished scholar with a promising career who died unexpectedly in 1961. This Foundation was set up in his honor.

How will the scholarship be paid?

Lump Sum to Student Research Account (100%)

Scholarship Special Conditions:

Full-time Higher Degree Research candidates post-confirmation of candidature researching in a topic relevant to a discipline in Arts and/or Humanities are eligible to apply and will receive one payment of $10,000 to be used towards research and costs of candidature.

Student must have successfully passed confirmation of candidature to be eligible.

Any unused funds at the completion of the degree are to be returned to the UNE Foundation account.

Before you apply for this scholarship, please ensure you have read and understood the below important information:

  • Evidence of Australian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Certified copies of degree transcript/s
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Outline of proposed/current PhD/MPhil Research Project
  • Copy of relevant research thesis and other research, published and unpublished
  • The names of two confidential references, with at least one being an academic staff member from an Australian university.

Candidates must complete the HDR (Higher Degree Research) Scholarship Application form and submit to the Graduate Research School along with the supporting documentation listed above.
