Intersect Australia is committed to enhancing research productivity and impact at UNE by equipping our academic researchers and higher degree research (HDR) students with the skills to confidently apply emerging digital research technologies. Through UNE’s partnership with Intersect Australia, the Digital Research Analysts (DRAs) offer comprehensive research support services tailored to meet the evolving needs of our research community.

Digital Research Analysts (DRAs)

Each member university of Intersect Australia benefits from the expertise of one or more DRAs. The DRAs bring a wealth of locally relevant skills and experience, collaborating across institutions to pool over 50 years of combined expertise in diverse disciplines.

At UNE, the DRAs serves as the primary point of contact for researcher and organisational support, engaging in following activities to bolster your research endeavours.

Training Coordination and Delivery: The DRAs manage and deliver Intersect’s training programs, participating in course ideation, development, and maintenance to ensure offerings meet the evolving needs of our members.
Direct Research Support: We provide personalised, project-specific advice through one-on-one consultations and facilitate research support forums or communities of practice within the university.
Research Strategy, Policy, and Procedures: Our team supports both the research community and the university in Research Data Management planning. We contribute to research strategy, policy, and strategic initiatives, drawing on best practices from member universities and the broader sector.
Researcher Engagement: We conduct research community needs, analyses and promote university policies and technology practices, ensuring researchers are aware of available resources and how to access them effectively.
Programming, Scripting, and Analytics Support: The DRAs offer assistance with basic scripting and programming in languages such as R, Python, MATLAB, etc. We also provide guidance on data visualization and analytics.
Research Application Support: We offer advice and assistance with common research applications, including REDCap, Qualtrics, NVivo, Git, and more, as well as support with user administration and management.

By leveraging these services, UNE researchers can enhance their research capabilities, confidently apply digital technologies, and achieve greater impact in their respective fields.
