Professor John Louis Dillon Memorial Scholarship

Background

The donor, a UNE Alumnus, wishes to recognise the influence and impact of the teaching of the late Professor John Louis Dillon on the lives of past UNE students.

John Dillon AO (1931-2001) was appointed Foundation Professor of Farm Management at UNE and he spent the remainder of his academic career based in Armidale. John produced path-breaking advances in agricultural economics and farm management and was particularly prominent in the area of international development.

Details 

The scholarship is valued at $10,000 per annum and is available to a domestic or international student for up to two years in a postgraduate Masters degree (Research) or up to three years for a doctoral level degree undertaking research in Agricultural Economics or research regarding the business of agriculture at the University of New England.

Eligibility and Assessment Criteria

The applicant must be either domestic or international and can be a new or continuing UNE student in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd year in a Doctor of Philosophy with preferred study as on campus full-time. A preferred area of research in Agricultural Economics.

Applications will be assessed on academic merit, financial need and the statement of case.

Applications for the Professor John Louis Dillon Memorial Scholarshipshould be made through the online HDR Award Application Form. Please attach the following documents to the application form and submit to research services:

  • Certified copies of degree transcripts
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • 500-word statement how the Scholarship will assist/support the study
  • Outline of proposed research/project
  • The names of two confidential references, with at least one an academic staff member at UNE
  • HDR candidates must provide a Statement of Support from their Principal Supervisor.
