J Doyle Memorial Scholarship

Background

Established in 1962, the J Doyle Memorial Fund was established to support a student who has completed at least a year of postgraduate study in any school of the University and is undertaking research on a topic specifically relating to soil erosion, watershed management or re-afforestation which has some immediate practical application under Australian conditions.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide either special travel in association with the research project, e.g. conference attendance, or special items of equipment or research materials related to the research project.

Details 

The scholarship is valued up to $4,000.00 p.a. for two years for a research masters or three years for a doctoral degree.

Eligibility and Assessment Criteria

The applicant must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident as defined by the Commonwealth.

Applicants must be enrolled or enrolling in a Postgraduate Masters by Research or PhD research degree at the School of Environmental and Rural Science with immediate practical application for Australian conditions:

  • soil erosion
  • watershed management
  • re-afforestation

Selection Criteria/How to Apply

Student's applications will be assessed, and the successful recipient will be selected based on in order of, academic merit, and then application.

Candidates must complete the HDR (Higher Degree Research) Scholarship Application form and submit to the Graduate Research School along with the following.

  • Evidence of Australian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Certified copies of degree transcript/s
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Outline of proposed/current PhD/MPhil Research Project
  • Copy of BA thesis and other research, published and unpublished
  • The names of two confidential references, with at least one being an academic staff member from an Australian university.
