English language requirements
You must meet English language requirements for admission to UNE. These requirements apply regardless of where or how you plan to study. It's important that you can read, write and speak English well because this will help you succeed at university in Australia.
If English isn't your first language, you can demonstrate your skills by passing an approved English language test.
Or, if you have studied in an English speaking country, you can show UNE proof of satisfactory course completion. You must have studied for at least one year full-time in the last five years to meet this requirement. Your teacher must also have instructed the class in English.
Alternatively, you can show that you got a passing grade or better in an English language subject at Australian Year 12 level. UNE will also accept an overseas equivalent subject.
If you want to improve your English skills before you start studying for your degree, we offer an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course here. On satisfactory completion of this course, you will have a direct pathway to a degree course at UNE. We also have trusted partners who provide alternate pathways for entry into a UNE course.
Note that there are higher than usual requirements for some degrees.
