About Digital Education

Digital Education, known as DigEd for short, is a dynamic portfolio of six teams within Education Futures that form the nucleus of online learning at UNE. Consisting of approximately 45 staff working in integrated ways across the institution, the portfolio spans the following areas:

Academic Development
The team offers professional development, resources, and guidance to support UNE’s goals and evolving standards. They coordinate the Advance HE Fellowship, promote SoTL, and host workshops, webinars, and symposia.

Academic Integrity
The Academic Integrity team, with three Digital Education staff, manages academic integrity and appeals for HASS, Education, ERS, S&T, and Law. They work with support officers and coordinators to review cases.

Digital Landscapes

A team of technical experts who have business ownership and system administration of UNE's virtual learning environment, including the Learning Management System, ePortfolio system, Zoom and other virtual platforms. The team also leads technical practice in the virtual learning environment.

Exams and eAssessment

A team of technical and administrative experts who have business ownership and system administration of UNE's online examinations platform, as well as administration of grades, results, transcripts, specials applications, study access provisions and other functions related to online assessment. The team also leads practices around online examinations and eAssessment.

Learning Design

A team of Senior Learning Designers, Learning Designers and Education Support Officers that drive the design and delivery of online learning. Their work spans curriculum initiatives and strategic projects, provision of day-to-day support of teaching staff and responsibility for development of the online teaching ecosystem each teaching period.

Learning Media

A team of multimedia experts and digital creatives that champion the design, development and delivery of rich media for online learning, as well as having business ownership and system administration of multimedia and lecture capture platforms.

About the Director

Sarah is an experienced leader, educator, designer and change agent, who draws on transdisciplinary praxis to lead curriculum and organisational change and drive high-quality digital education. They have been with UNE for 12 years in a range of professional and academic roles, spanning senior leadership, learning design, academic development and digital technologies, and contribute to key areas of teaching and learning strategy. Sarah is also an accomplished musician, playing double bass and electric bass in a diverse range of genres.
