Standard Equipment Requests – Higher Degree by Research (HDR)

This web page gives details outlining UNE standard computing devices available to HDR students and how to request them.

The supply of standard IT equipment is now centrally managed by Technology and Digital Services (TDS) and made available to university HDR students with no charge back.

You can request IT office hardware if:

  1. You are a Higher Degree by Research student at the University of New England
  2. The warranty on your existing primary device has expired
  3. Your existing primary device has failed (this will be confirmed via IT Client Services)
  4. You currently have a desktop PC; in this case, the PC will be replaced and a dock, monitor supplied as required.

Each device supplied is a replacement for your existing UNE supplied device; it is not supplied in addition to.

On-site office equipment setups for HDR students consist of the following and are classed as standard:

  • 1x Dell Laptop (Currently Latitude 5 series)
  • 1x Dock
  • 1x Monitor
  • Keyboard and Mouse
  • 1x Headset

UNE is transitioning to enable mobile work practices and as such Desktop PCs will no longer be available unless specific requirements are identified. All items are assigned individually to HDR students and are their responsibility. Only one office equipment setup on UNE Armidale campus per HDR student can be accommodated.

Off-campus students (with approval from a supervisor) are eligible to be loaned a UNE laptop and headset. Shipping is to be covered by the school - approval from an authorised head of cost centre is required.
