Before you arrive

Coming to study in Australia can be lots of work and daunting, so we've put together some information to help you through this process!

1. Before your flight

  • Organise your student visa to travel to Australia.
  • Organise your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). All student visa holders are required to have OSHC health insurance during their period of intended stay in Australia. We have a partnership with BUPA.
  • Prepare the necessary documents and make sure you are able to access them easily upon arrival. This can include your valid Passport, Admission offer letter, flights, transport tickets and itinerary.

Once you have your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and student visa, the next step is to start planning for your travels to Australia.

2. Passports:

Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months prior to your arrival in Australia (It is a good idea to make a copy of your passport).

3. Flights:

Be sure to book your flight to arrive in Australia with plenty of time to settle into your new city and campus before your course starts. Only book your flight once you have been granted a student visa.

4. Organise accommodation

You will be required to provide your accommodation address on your incoming passenger card when you arrive in Australia. This means you need to arrange accommodation for your first night(s) before you travel.

For our Sydney Campus students, many Australian cities including Sydney have been experiencing a housing crisis with rooms and properties for rent being in short supply. This might make it harder for commencing students to find suitable accommodation.

For our Armidale based students, there multiple options both on campus and off campus for students. You can find some options for Armidale accommodation here.

We recommend you start looking into housing options early, and if possible secure a place to stay prior to your arrival.
