Material protected by copyright

Material protected by copyright includes a wide variety of materials and works in print, electronic and other formats. The Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) distinguishes copyright material into different categories.

Complete works such as literary works, films and musical recordings may contain several and separate types of copyrights. For example, a journal will contain numerous articles. Each article, as a literary work may contain artistic work as well as the text.

Copyright does not protect ideas, names, styles and techniques, rather, the protection applies to the expression of an idea or concept, put into material form, such as capturing it in a recording or writing/drawing.
