Open Day delivers record turnout

The event on Friday, 1 May, was the University's strongest Open Day attendance in recent years and a 24 per cent increase on 2025. It offered practical engagement with UNE’s diverse academic offerings and showcased the lifestyle of the New England region.

The Armidale Campus welcomed prospective students, teachers and career advisers from 38 schools across New South Wales, alongside hundreds of individuals and families who travelled independently from across Australia to explore what UNE has to offer.

“It is clear that students and families are seeking to experience UNE’s campus life firsthand and UNE’s Open Day is a great chance for people to do just that,” said Bryn Griffiths, Director of Future Students and Engagement.

The success was driven by a whole-of-university effort, with staff from academic disciplines, residential colleges, student support services, UNE Life and Future Students, Engagement and Technologies working together to deliver more than 40 information stalls and interactive activations as well as 23 campus tours.

The event also served as a showcase of the broader Armidale region. Nine external community organisations were highlighted, including the Armidale Regional Council and local favourites like The Herd Bar, Super Strawberry, and Burger Bulls through ‘Food Alley’.

While visitors enjoyed the free food, hands-on activities, and tours across campus, the core focus of the day remained on connecting with future students and their communities as well as demystifying university life.

“It was great being able to talk to professors/lecturers about my course interests and gain valuable information that will help me with applying,” shared one high school attendee.

Thank you to everyone across UNE and our community who contributed to another successful Open Day.
