UNE Tamworth’s unique, personalised, student support model will be front-and-centre at the University’s orientation day for local students and their families this month.
Academics from across disciplines including health, nursing, law and education will be at the University’s Tamworth study centre on Saturday, February 21, to help new and returning students get started in their 2026 learning journey.
In addition to academic guidance students will be able to see, first-hand, the face-to-face and unique student support system they can access at the Tamworth Study Centre with a dedicated support team offering assistance with progressions, examination support and assignment guidance.
UNE Senior Manager for Tamworth and Regions, Catherine Lees, said the event is a chance to connect with the more than 70 per cent of Tamworth-based UNE students who have chosen to study online.
"Studying online should never mean studying alone,” Ms Lees said.
“This orientation is designed to demolish that myth. We are showing our commencing students that having a physical home base in Tamworth, with real people invested in their journey, is the key advantage that transforms their online learning experience and ensures they feel part of a connected community."
"Our orientation is the first and most critical step in delivering on our promise of student-centred excellence. It's where we move beyond the online portal and show our students and their families that our wrap-around model of personalised, face-to-face support is real, accessible, and ready to help them from day one."
"By meeting our dedicated support team, students and families can see first-hand the local, human connection that complements our world-class online education, ensuring every student has a strong foundation for success."
"Our commitment to personalised support is also a commitment to our region's future. When we provide this level of dedicated, one-on-one guidance, we are not just helping students pass exams; we are building the confidence and skills of the highly capable professionals who will go on to strengthen our regional workforce.”
Youth Mental Health Organisation, headspace Tamworth, and social impact business, Bamara, will join the UNE Tamworth team at the event and be on-hand to showcase their services to students on the day.
UNE Tamworth’s orientation day comes at an exciting time for UNE staff and students, with work soon to begin on a new campus on the corner of Peel and Roderick Streets.
