Cameron joins UNE from the University of Queensland, where he has held positions including Director of Commercialisation at UniQuest, Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and Industry Professor at the UQ Business School.

Cameron has been working at the interface between research and industry for over 30 years as an innovation practitioner and, more recently, as a Prac-ademic. He has a deep network, skills, and a passion for facilitating impact through research translation and commercialisation, start-up incubation, social enterprise and responsible leadership development.

He has created and run multiple deep tech start-ups, trained hundreds of researchers in industry engagement, research translation and commercialisation and developed and taught the new UQ MBA Impact Academy and Master's of Entrepreneurship and Innovation capstone course. Cameron's students have started over a dozen commercial and NFP enterprises over the last 5 years. He also facilitated the CSIRO National Deep Tech Start-Up Accelerator, ONAccelerate, in 2022-23.

At UQ, Cameron developed partnerships and secured millions of dollars to create impact from new ideas, capabilities and discoveries. Organisations he has partnered with include Angel and Venture Capital Investors, Agrifutures, CSIRO, ACIAR, Queensland Health, social enterprises, SMEs, large corporates, and various federal innovation programs.

He has helped create four successful start-up companies that collectively raised over $10 million in investment, all of which continue to operate today—including Aussie Colours, Progel, PERKii, and Bioherbicides Australia.

His unique combination of entrepreneurial success, teaching excellence, and deep industry connections will be invaluable to the SRI as UNE strengthens its commitment to regional innovation and the communities it serves.
