Over 1750 guests are expected to flock to UNE’s Armidale campus to support students as they graduate over three ceremonies from Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 December.
A highlight of the 2024 Summer graduation will be an address by Nobel prize winner Professor Brian Schmidt. Professor Schmidt is an internationally renowned researcher in cosmology and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2011. UNE is delighted to welcome Professor Schmidt from the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra to address students from the Faculty of Science, Agriculture, Business and Law (SABL).
The ceremony for Medicine and Health will feature an address by UNE SRI Founder Edwina Sharrock OAM. Edwina is a midwife, entrepreneur and passional health advocate. She founded Birth Beat, a digital health platform for expecting and new parents.
Students graduating from the Faculty Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education (HASSE) on Saturday will be addressed by Timothy Walker CBE AM. A graduate of UNE himself, Tim was the Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the London Philharmonic Orchestra for more than 17 years.
