Elizabeth Fyffe Trust payments for LIC students

The Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships (LIC) program has received approval for an Elizabeth Fyffe Trust payment of $5000 for each LIC student from 2025 as clinical placement support funds.

LIC Academic Lead, Maree Puxty made comment regarding the payment:

“The JMP Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship would like to thank the trustees of Elizabeth Fyffe Bequest for their continued support of the JMP LIC.

The trust will now provide financial support to the LIC program as a Clinical Placement Fund for all LIC students. LIC students from 2025 will all be eligible for a $5000 scholarship for clinical placement support to address placement poverty.

Elizabeth Fyffe Trust funds will help support students during relocation to the existing 2025 LIC sites of Inverell and Narrabri and future site of Moree in 2026.

The funds will help alleviate student relocation costs and lost income for the 19-week rural placement. Support from the trust will aid increasing numbers of final year JMP students to become ‘apprentice’ rural doctors and grow our own rural health workforce in the New England Northwest region.”

The LIC program is a 19-week apprenticeship model of experiential learning in a rural community for final year medicine students in the UNE and UON Joint Medical Program.
