Chancellor's Report

The Accord continues to be the focus of recent University Chancellor Council (UCC) and Executive meetings as priority items are dissected by the various stakeholders and debated in a range of forums. Chancellor James Harris participated in an Accord Ideas Workshop on 10 August at Parliament House which was attended by Vice-Chancellors, Chancellors, Minister for Education and key staff, Universities Australia CEO and key staff, and the Accord Panel.

The UNE Student Council (UNESC) held their inaugural Student Summit on 6 September with a primary focus on student safety. Mr Harris opened the Summit, which was an open forum for all students to discuss current issues and concerns regarding all aspects of their safety. Mr Harris presented at the annual UNE Life Sports Awards night on 20 September, which is a celebration of student achievement across a wide range of sports, and acknowledged the efforts of the diverse range of UNE Sporting Clubs.

Elements of the plan are underway, with an Aboriginal Heritage Plan being developed. The Deer Park Interpretative Strategy is in progress and the Booloominbah Conservation Management Plan is scheduled to commence very soon.
