UNE Interim Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Evans said he is proud of the contribution UNE graduation events make not only to the Graduands and their families, but to the local economy of Armidale and the wider region.
“Summer Graduations this December will wrap up an enormous year for both UNE graduations staff and our academic staff as together we celebrate the achievements of our students,” Professor Evans said.
“During 2022 we will have welcomed an incredible 2400 graduates to our Armidale campus, along with their guests. At an estimated 2-3 guests per graduate, that’s around 8500 visitors to our region based on graduations alone."
“I am proud that once again the University is able to host these significant events, which not only fill the whole region’s hotels and restaurants but create a wonderful sense of place and community for our students, many of whom completed the majority of their degree online.
“Armidale is such an important place to our students no matter where they study, and visiting Armidale for graduation on the lawns of historic Booloominbah is an absolute highlight for them as they celebrate the end of their studies.”
“I extend the invitation to the wider community to come up to the Armidale campus and join hear from the speakers at the various ceremonies this December.”
