UNE Interim Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Evans said the lawns of the historical Booloominbah will be open for families and friends to bring a picnic blanket, enjoy free entertainment and watch the sun set over Armidale.
“It has been wonderful to start planning events again and to welcome the community back to UNE’s Armidale campus after more than two years of COVID interruption,” Professor Evans said.
“We are looking forward to seeing not only our UNE staff and their families, but to invite all of town to join us, in person, on the lawns of Booloominbah for some fun and festivities.”
There will be something for the whole family to enjoy, entertainment by Armidale local Fergus Lupton from 6pm, stalls to grab last-minute Christmas gifts, food trucks, a face painter, refreshments and pizza from the Booloominbah cafe and even Santa’s sleigh to grab some festive selfies.
“It is important to celebrate coming together at this time of year. Guests are not just coming to enjoy the film, but can take time at the end of a busy year to relax and reconnect, and UNE is eager to host an event where this can happen,” Professor Evans said.
