The 2021 Graduate Outcomes Survey, released last week, reveals that 80.9% of UNE undergraduates seeking work have found full-time employment, ranking UNE third among Australian universities for full-time undergraduate employment.

Vice-Chancellor and CEO, Professor Brigid Heywood, said the results are outstanding and further proof that UNE provides its students with one of the best pathways into employment of any Australian university.

“UNE works closely with industry to produce job ready graduates, but we are also working with our students to recognise their unique life experience, knowledge and skills they bring to UNE that help shape their career once they graduate,” Professor Heywood said.

“Embedded in our strategic plan, Future Fit, is a strong program of consultation with industry, government and communities to tailor our educational offerings to ensure that our graduates are equipped with skills that meet the needs of the communities they live and work in.

“Our objective as a leading regional university is to contribute positively to the communities we operate in and I think the results speak for themselves in how our graduates are leaving UNE with valuable and relevant qualifications.”

UNE was also ranked joint first among Australian universities for Undergraduate Median Full Time Salary.

According to the survey, UNE undergraduates enjoy a median full-time salary of $72,000 against the industry average of $65,000.

The 2021 GOS undergraduate employment outcome data also showed an increase in employment outcomes from previous years in study areas such as medicine (90.2%) and pharmacy (95%), fields in which UNE have a strong reputation for teaching excellence.

The Graduate Outcomes Survey draws its data for the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching survey, which is funded by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment.
