The Oorala Awards celebrates the achievements of UNE Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The Oorala Awards celebrates the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and the University of New England staff who support them. Award wnners will be announced at the event being held on Thursday 27 November 2025.

Student awards will be awarded in four categories (Student Growth & Resilience, Student Academic Excellence, Student Community Leadership and Student Creative and Cultural Achievement). The student awards are open to all UNE Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander pathways enabling, undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research students. This includes students that have graduated or are due to graduate in 2025.

Staff Awards will be awarded in three categories (Staff Recognition, Staff Indigenous Education Award impact and Staff Community Partnership ). The staff awards are open to all UNE Indigenous and non-Indigenous professional and academic staff.
