2024 marked the 70th anniversary of the University of New England.

Seven decades ago, on 1 February 1954, UNE separated from the University of Sydney to become Australia’s first independent regional university.

Our platinum jubilee commemorated the ongoing influence of first Vice Chancellor Robert Madgwick and first Chancellor Sir Earle Page, and former and current staff, students and supporters who picked up their vision and shaped it into our university.

Over the course of 2024, we reflected on our rich history, honoured the achievements of our alumni, and envisioned an even brighter future for UNE.

To help us celebrate this milestone we would love you to share your UNE memories with us! Share your photos and stories  via our dedicated "Remember when" site.
