Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate an understanding of assessment strategies, including informal and formal, diagnostic, formative and summative approaches to assess student learning (GTSD 2.3.1, 5.1.1); 
2. show an understanding of the implication of learning theories in designing effective learning activities (GTSD 1.2.1, 3.6.1); 
3. include a range of teaching strategies in teaching and demonstrate knowledge of a range of resources, including ICT, that engage students in their learning (GTSD 3.3.1, 3.4.1); 
4. show an understanding of and the ability to moderate assessment to ensure consistent and comparable verdicts of student learning, and interpret students assessment data to evaluate student learning and adjust teaching practice (GTSD 5.3.1, 5.4.1);
5. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of strategies for differentiating teaching to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities (GTSD 1.5.1);  and
6. demonstrate an understanding of a range of strategies for providing feedback and reporting to students and parents/carers, and the purpose of keeping accurate and reliable records of student achievement (GTSD 5.2.1, 5.5.1).
