Unit information
Disruption, uncertainty and cascading risks are now routine for senior leaders in government, business and the not‑for‑profit sector. In this unit, you build advanced strategic risk leadership capability for these complex environments.
You examine emerging global risk environments, apply systems-thinking and foresight methodologies to analyse organisational vulnerability and resilience. You then integrate governance, ethics and resilience frameworks to guide organisational transformation in complex settings.
Industry professionals contribute as instructors and mentors, and assessments mirror real-world practice through strategic briefs, scenario planning and leadership portfolios. By the end of the unit, you can provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior decision‑makers and communicate complex risk insights to diverse stakeholders with confidence.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- critically analyse and synthesise complex risk environments and strategic leadership frameworks to evaluate organisational vulnerability and resilience in contemporary public and private settings;
- evaluate and apply advanced risk governance principles to devise strategic risk management frameworks that translate organisational goals into coherent, ethical, and legally compliant practice;
- design evidence-based recommendations and solutions for senior decision-makers based on systematic evaluation of risk data, organisational capability, and theoretical paradigms;
- communicate complex strategic risk insights and leadership guidance effectively to diverse stakeholders, demonstrating professional autonomy, judgement, and accountability in advanced risk leadership contexts.
