Monitoring Health and Sports Performance (EXSC101)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate knowledge and practical understanding of health- and performance-related components of fitness;
2. identify key performance variables for a broad range of contexts using needs analysis and demonstrate an ability to conduct tests of physical function and capacity in accordance with industry standards;
3. demonstrate an ability to analyse and interpret test data through applying principles of research methods and statistics with population normative data;
4. evaluate and discuss how findings obtained from tests of physical function and capacity may be utilised by an exercise and sports scientist to monitor health, function and performance, and inform exercise prescription; and
5. transmit client information in accordance with professional/industry based-standards using appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills in keeping with the target audience.
