Unit information
To advance your career in the health and social care sectors you will develop your understanding of management practices for the delivery of safe and quality care.
This unit will help you build the skills and knowledge to add value in your role and take your career to the next level, whether you work in aged care, community care, disability or counselling services.
You will explore, analyse and examine a range of management practices in the context of health and social care, including policy directions, funding, resources, accountability and social responsibility.
You will examine the providers’ accountability including regular assessment, monitoring and review to meet accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- analyse and evaluate basic management principles and understand their application to health and social care;
- demonstrate advanced knowledge of the accountability and social responsibility of providers for maintaining quality of care in health and social care;
- interpret and apply the practices of resource management including human and financial within a range of health and social care contexts; and
- critically review and analyse the providers' accountability including regular assessment, monitoring and review to meet accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
