Creative Arts Curriculum Studies 1 (EDAE124)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate knowledge of the curriculum documents pertaining to the Creative Arts, and have a foundational knowledge and understanding of the key concepts, substance and structure of the forms and elements specific to visual arts and drama (GTSD 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 2.4.1, 2.6.1);
2. demonstrate an understanding of how students learn in the Creative Arts and a knowledge of specific pedagogies relevant to the Creative Arts disciplines of Visual Arts and Drama (GTSD 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.5.1, 1.6.1, 3.3.1);
3. apply knowledge and skills in creating an effective and safe learning environment, and be able to use a range of teaching strategies, media and resources appropriate to K–6 Creative Arts (Visual Arts and Drama) (GTSD 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 3.5.1, 3.6.1, 4.4.1);
4. demonstrate a practical understanding of the processes involved in effective curriculum development in relation to lesson planning, unit programming, and evaluation of teaching relevant to implementation of the Visual Arts & Drama strands of the Creative Arts (GTSD 2.3.1, 3.2.1, 5.1.1, 5.2.1); and
5. demonstrate an understanding of the place of the Creative Arts within the school and the wider community, and the contribution the Creative Arts make to students’ personal, social and intellectual development (GTSD 1.1.1, 4.4.1).
