Unit information
In our complex modern world, you will need to draw on theories, concepts and skills from a range of disciplines to solve accounting and other business problems.
This final year capstone unit allows you to integrate your skills and knowledge in accounting, auditing, ethics, finance and data analytics to cement your learning across the many components of the accounting profession.
By completing a practical project or case study analysis based on a real-world scenario, you will consolidate your core knowledge and skills in financial statement analysis, costing, financing, marketing management, internal control, ethics, and statements of advice.
Through your project you will analyse and interpret numerical data and infographics, produce accounting and business reports and show your ability to apply these skills to accounting and business-related problems.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a broad and coherent understanding of accounting and business reports with depth in interpreting numerical data and infographics, and apply this to accounting and business-related problems;
- demonstrate an integrated knowledge in planning, problem solving and decision making in a practical business case context;
- use a range of cognitive and communication skills to review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise relevant information drawn from a range of sources, including business reports and numerical data, in order to demonstrate critical thinking and judgement in solving complex accounting and business-related problems in a professional context;
- work independently and/or collaboratively to plan and execute tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills; and
- demonstrate the ability to recognise, reflect on, and respond appropriately to a range of ethical, cultural or social issues influencing the accounting practice in business.
