Mr James Dries
Lecturer in Biomedical Science , Human Physiology - School of Science and Technology

Biography
James is a lecturer in Biomedical Science in the School of Science and Technology at UNE.
Driven by a passion for human physiology and performance, James completed dual undergraduate degrees at UNE—a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science. Building on this foundation, he pursued postgraduate studies at UNE and beyond before returning to undertake a PhD. His research focuses on motor learning, with the aim of developing strategies to reduce head trauma and concussions in rugby league—a pursuit that combines his interests in human physiology, motor control, and sports medicine.
Since 2021, James has served as a unit coordinator and lecturer, initially in Exercise and Sports Science (2021-2022) before transitioning to Biomedical Science in 2022. During his time at UNE, he has coordinated and lectured across a range of units within the biomedical sciences, where he continues to foster the development of students in this dynamic field.
