Biography

Dr Yoo Mi Byun has been a classroom teacher for over 17 years in early childhood education and primary schools. As a tertiary lecturer, she has successfully taught multiple units to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, focusing on literacy, inclusion, practical placement, and STEM education.

Her research interests focus on family mental health, wellbeing, and family functioning. She concentrates on parenting behaviours, mental health, fathers' involvement in parenting, and children's social-emotional development. Her 2023 PhD explored these factors, and a current funded project explores how fathers' understanding of STEM education influences their involvement in supporting young children's STEM learning experiences.
