Human Research Ethics Committee
The Human Ethics Committee (HREC) meets monthly to discuss Greater than Low Risk (HREA) applications and weekly for Expedited (Minimal or Low Risk) applications for ethics approval.
Expedited meetings to assess minimal and low risk research projects are held every Thursday. The submission deadline is 12 noon each Tuesday. All submissions received by this time will be assigned the meeting scheduled for following week. The first meeting date for Expedited research for 2025 will be Tuesday 6th February with a closing date of 29th January. The final Expedited meeting date for 2025 will be held on the 11th December.

If you wish to discuss any matters related to human ethics with the Chair and/or the Human Research Ethics Officer, we offer a Drop-In session every Tuesday at 2 pm. This provides an opportunity to ask questions about a new project, seek clarification on comments received from the HREC regarding an existing project, or inquire about any other relevant issues.
