Health & Wellbeing at UNE

Settling in to a new life at university in a new country can be stressful. That's why we want to take some of the anxiety out of starting at UNE through our various health and wellbeing programs. The aim of these programs is to help settle students into life in Australia while addressing key areas of concern that have been flagged by previous students. The key point of difference for our programs is that many of them are also open to spouses and children of students studying at UNE. We care about our students but understand sometimes they don't come alone and we want the whole family to feel welcomed and supported.

Driving Program

This program is aimed at enhancing understanding of Australian road rules and driving in regional NSW. We offer 2 x free driving lessons with local driving business, Aussie Blue Driving School.

This program runs throughout each Trimester and is open to students and their spouses who have just arrived. It acts as an orientation program that will hopefully prevent any unfortunate accidents from occurring, and equip students and their spouses with the confidence to drive here in Australia.

A valid NSW Learner Licence or a translated, valid International Licence is required to participate. Numbers are limited and all students eligible for the program are contacted via student email. A reminder that this is for new students and will not be offered to continuing students and spouses who have been here for longer than one Trimester.

Learn to Swim

Please note, due to the current COVID-19 outbreak the Learn to Swim program is postponed until further notice. As soon as it is safe to run the program again we will be contacting students with an update.

Here in Australia most children learn to swim from a young age and learn about water safety. It's an important skill to have and we want to ensure our students visiting from overseas who may not have had the opportunity to do so, learn how to swim.

We offer both adult and child intensives in each Trimester.  Our next block of lessons will be held at Sport UNE and dates will be released soon. Stay tuned!

English Language Lessons
