Postgraduate Academic Entry Requirements

To qualify for admission into UNE postgraduate programs you must have completed an educational qualification considered to be at least comparable to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) bachelor degree. Check your program listing in the Course and Units Guide for specific entry requirements.

Undergraduate Academic Entry Requirements

For direct admission into undergraduate courses offered by UNE you must have completed an educational qualification considered to be at least equivalent to completion of Year 12 in Australia.

Australia

Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 award with an ATAR acceptable to UNE in the year of admission (minimum scores for entry into each UNE course are available directly from UNE International); OR successful completion of a recognised Foundation Studies program conducted by an Australian University or affiliate with a minimum score of 60% in all units including English.

Bangladesh

Successful completion of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with a GPA of 4.0 in the final year results; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the HSC.

Bhutan

Successful completion of the All India Senior School Certificate or the Indian School Certificate with an overall grade average of 60% in the best four academic subjects; OR successful completion of the Bhutan Higher Secondary Education Certificate with an average of 60% in the best four (non-language) subjects.

Botswana

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Brunei

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Cambodia

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Cameroon

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Canada

Successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma with 6 University/College Preparation Courses with an average of 60%; OR successful completion of a Provincial High School Diploma with an average grade pass of 60%.

China

Successful completion of the China Senior Middle School Graduation Certificate with an average score at least 70%; OR a minimum 70% in the National University Entrance Examination (Gao Kao); OR successful completion of a recognised pre-tertiary foundation program in addition to completion of senior high school studies.

Fiji

Successful completion of the Fiji Seventh Form Certificate with an average of 60% in the best four subjects (one of which must include English); OR successful completion of the University of the South Pacific Foundation Year; OR successful completion of the NZ University Bursaries Exam/National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) to a standard that meets eligibility for admission to a New Zealand University.

France

Successful completion of the French Baccalauréat with a grade average of 12.

Germany

Successful completion of the Arbitur with a grade average of 4.

Ghana

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Hong Kong (SAR)

Successful completion of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) with a minimum level of 2 in all 4 core subjects (Chinese, English, Mathematics, and Liberal Studies) plus 2 electives where a subject level of 1 = 1 point, 2= 2 points, 3 = 3 points, 4= 4 points, 5 = 5 points.

India

Successful completion of the All India Senior School Certificate or the Indian School Certificate with an overall grade average of 60% in the best 4 academic subjects.

Indonesia

Successful completion of the SMU or Secondary School Certificate of Graduation (SKHUN/STK) with an average of 75%.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

Successful completion of the IB with a minimum aggregate score of 26.

Iran

Successful completion of the Pre-University Certificate with an overall GPA of 3 (on a scale of 4).

Iraq

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Japan

Successful completion of the Upper Secondary School Certificate of Graduation with a GPA of 4.

Jordan

Successful completion of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Tawjahiya) with a grade average of 90 in the final year results; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school studies.

Kenya

Successful completion of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a B grade average.

Korea, Republic of

Successful completion of the Genera/Academic Senior High School Certificate with an overall grade of C or 70%.

Kuwait

Successful completion of the General Secondary School Certificate (Shahadat al-Thanawiya al-A’ama) with 90% in the final year results; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school studies.

Lebanon

Successful completion of the Baccalauréat Libanais with a minimum overall grade of 10.

Libya

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Malaysia

Successful completion of the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with a GPA of 2.0.

Maldives

Successful completion of the UCLES ‘A’ Levels (HSC) with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1.

Mauritius

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1.

Myanmar

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Nepal

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program, OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

New Zealand

Successful completion of the New Zealand Universities Bursaries Exam/National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA) to a standard that meets eligibility for admission to a New Zealand University.

Nigeria

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Norway

Successful completion of the Vitnemal fra den videregaende skolen (Certificate of Upper Secondary School with an overall grade of 3.0.

Oman

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Pakistan

Successful completion of the Higher Secondary School Certificate/Intermediate Examination Certificate with an overall average of 70%.

Papua New Guinea

Successful completion of the Papua New Guinea Higher School Certificate with a GPA of 3.0.

Philippines

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Qatar

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Russian Federation

Successful completion of the Certificate of Secondary (Complete) General Education with an overall grade of 4.0.

Saudi Arabia

Successful completion of the General Secondary School Certificate with a minimum of 75% or “Very Good”.

Singapore

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Solomon Islands

Successful completion of the Pacific Senior Secondary Certificate with a grade of 2.0 in the final year of results; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

South Africa

Successful completion of the National Senior Certificate with a grade of 60%.

Sri Lanka

Successful completion of the Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education Advanced Level with an overall average of 65% in the best thee Advanced Level subjects.

Sweden

Successful completion of the Slutbetyg Från Gymnasieskola with a grade of pass.

Syria

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Taiwan

Successful completion of the Senior High School Diploma with a minimum grade of C or 70%.

Tanzania

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Thailand

Successful completion of the Certificate of Secondary Education (Mayatom 6) with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Turkey

Successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school.

Uganda

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

United Arab Emirates

Successful completion of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Tawjahiya) with a grade average of 90 in the final year results; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school studies.

United Kingdom

Successful completion of the Cambridge International Examinations or Edexcel GCE A Level Examination with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1.

United States of America

Successful completion of the High School Diploma plus successful completion of the Scholastic Aptitude Testing (SAT) Reasoning Test with a score of 500 in each of the three test sections – Critical Reading, Maths, and Writing.

Vietnam

Successful completion of the Bang Tot Nghiep Trung Hoc Pho Thong (Upper Secondary Education Graduation Diploma) with a minimum grade of 6.5.

Zambia

Successful completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels with an aggregate of 4 in the best of 3 A Level subjects where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; OR successful completion of a recognised pre-university foundation program; OR successful completion of one year of study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution in addition to completion of the GCE ‘A’ Levels.

Zimbabwe
