Pre arrival information

If you are planning on studying at UNE or have been accepted to study at UNE then there is a lot to think about before you arrive in Australia. Here you will find information about what you might need to consider.

UNE International strongly recommends you arrive at least two weeks before university starts. This will allow you time to prepare for all your essential needs (accommodation, banking, enrolment) and attend international student orientation.

For detailed information please refer to the following resources.

If you have any questions or require further assistance regarding your arrival to Armidale or Sydney please contact the UNE International Services team.

Why not chat with a UNE student before you arrive.

Bushfire Information

Bush fires are more likely to spread and cause damage on days when the weather is very hot, dry, and windy. These are usually on very high to extreme fire days. To reduce the risk of fires damaging or destroying life, property, and the environment the NSW RFS Commissioner may declare a Total Fire Ban (TOBAN).

Please always refer to the NSW Rural Fire Service for accurate and up to date information.

The New England area is not currently threatened by fires, but there may be times in the future that we experience smoke haze from nearby blazes. People with existing lung conditions, such as asthma, may experience an exacerbation of their symptoms and should be prepared to activate their Asthma (or COPD) Action Plan.

  • Visit the Fires Near Me page for information on incidents in your area.
  • If you see a fire without a fire truck in attendance, please call Triple Zero (000).
  • For information about what to do in an asthma emergency refer to Asthma Australia - Asthma First Aid.
