Information for UNE Staff
Staff at UNE can support students in their academic and career journeys in several ways. Your words, suggestions, and discussions greatly influence how students view themselves, the work they hope to enter, and even how success can be measured. Here are three key recommendations that aim to enhance a student's employability by fostering a cohesive and intentional approach to career readiness across all areas of learning.
- Self-awareness and Career Insights—Encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their strengths, and their future career opportunities through self-reflection and career-focused discussions.
- Skills Development—Both technical and essential skills are explicitly embedded and authentically developed across the curriculum. Skill highlights in a real-world context help students connect their learning to future career aspirations.
- Work-Integrated Learning and Capstone Experience—Where possible, maximise the potential for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and/or a capstone unit. These units and opportunities bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, helping students in the next steps of work and life.
UNE Careers can help add to your unit, course, and/or discipline area. We can support you in several ways relating to career development education, from writing discipline-specific career content and providing relevant information to presenting career information in units.
