Before contacting us

To aid us in helping you, please try the following before contacting the IT Support:

  • Check that all of the cables are plugged in (eg. power, phone, ethernet).
  • Restart your machine and try again.
  • If the problem happens again, write down the exact wording of the error message you see on your screen. Knowing the message can assist the IT Support personnel in identifying the problem.

Screenshots are very helpful for our technicians to diagnose the issue you are experiencing. If you are using a Windows device, you can use the Snipping Tool, which you can find under Start > Windows Accessories. Save the image, and attach to the ServiceNow request or email.

On a Mac, you can use Shift+Command+3 to take a screenshot of the entire screen, which saves to your desktop. Attach this to your ServiceNow request or email.

If you call us
  • Have your student/staff number handy. This will help us to find your record quicker.
  • Have the information regarding your computer ready (i.e. type of computer [Windows or Mac], name of software that is having problems, etc.).
  • What are you trying to do and what happens.
  • Are there other computers affected in your area.
  • Remember that not all problems can be solved quickly. Research may have to be done in order to solve your problem, so your patience is appreciated.
