Royal Society of NSW Collection

The Royal Society of New South Wales (RSNSW) was established in 1821. From 1875 onwards, the Society exchanged publications with scientific organisations in other countries.

The Collection consists of more than 35,000 volumes on the natural sciences and mathematics, with series covering astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology and palaeontology. It includes thousands of hard-to-find volumes in foreign languages.

Donated by the Royal Society of New South Wales (RSNSW) in 1983. This collection has since grown by exchange with foreign learned societies.

Location: Royal Society Room on the Lower Ground Floor of Dixson Library.

  2. Find your item and click on the title link.
  3. Scroll down to the Get it section.
  4. Select Borrow from UNE
  5. Complete your request form, including the date after which the item is no longer required
  6. Submit your request.
Community and other researchers

If we approve your request, we will retrieve the items for you to view and read in Dixson Library. Please submit your request at least 3 working days before your visit to Dixson Library.

Direct access to the Royal Society Collection is not available. However researchers may apply for single-visit access for the purpose of browsing foreign language and/or unindexed historical publications. Learn more about the conditions of access.
