University of New England Archives

University of New England (UNE) was established in 1954, after New England University College (NEUC) gained independence from the University of Sydney. The first Chancellor was Sir Earle Page and Robert B Madgwick was the first Vice-Chancellor.

This collection contains UNE archival records of enduring evidential and cultural value. These include:

  • handbooks and course descriptions
  • staff and student records
  • graduation lists
  • photographs of the building and the students
  • personal papers
  • corporate records required to be kept by legislation
  • realia and regalia, such as graduation gowns, banners, crests and plaques, honour boards and photographs
  • books on family history and personal libraries of academics and significant donors
  • teaching aids, books and school room furniture from the UNE Museum of Education collection.
