Article Processing Charge (APC) discounts

UNE authors have access to Article Processing Charges (APC) discounts with

A summary of the discounts is provided below. These charges are separate from Read and Publish Agreements.

Elsevier
Titles covered Elsevier's Core Hybrid journals and fully Open Access (Gold) journals which are excluded from the CAUL negotiated Elsevier Read and Publish Agreement. This includes Gold Open Access Cell Press and Gold Open Access The Lancet titles. Title eligibility can be checked using Elsevier's Journal Finder.
APC discount available 15% - the invoice with the discounted APC will be sent to the address nominated by the corresponding author once the article is validated by the Consortium
Author eligibility The corresponding author needs to be affiliated with UNE. Corresponding authors must specify UNE as their affiliated institution, and use their institutional email address (@une.edu.au or @myune.edu.au)
Article licensing CC BY, CC BY-NC-ND
Agreement details Articles must be accepted during the agreement term. Agreement is active from 1 January 2026.
This discount is available through the Library's Read and Publish agreement with Elsevier (see CAUL's Elsevier agreement).

Titles covered Oxford University Press full open access (Gold) journals not covered by the CAUL Read & Publish agreement.
APC discount available 10% - the invoice with the discounted APC will be sent to the address nominated by the corresponding author once the article is validated by the Consortium

This discount is  available through the Library's subscription to Royal Society of Chemistry journals.

The Royal Society

Although UNE does not have a read & publish agreement with The Royal Society, their 'Subscribe to Open' model means that UNE authors may be eligible to publish Open Access at no cost in select Royal Society Journals. This may change yea-to-year.

For 2026, UNE authors are able to publish  at no cost in seven hybrid journals as shown on the CAUL Title List.
