Museums of History NSW State Archives Collection

The UNE Archives and Heritage Centre is a repository for regional records held in the NSW State Archive Collection. These are required to be kept by NSW State legislation. Records available to the public include mining, cemetery and Lands Office archival material.

The records that are held at UNE and Regional Archives can be searched via the Museums of History, NSW (MHNSW) State Archives holdings.

Access conditions

Access records in this collection by submitting an application to access records.

MHNSW maintains a Register of Access Directions. The register contains details of all access directions currently in force under the Act. It lists access directions, the government agency who made the direction and the duration of the access direction.

State records are open to public access after 20 years unless the government agency responsible for them has made an early access authorisation or a closed to public access (CPA) direction.  Closed to public access directions to close some records for longer than 20 years can be made to protect sensitive information.

If you are traveling to Armidale to view these records, we recommend that you book an appointment time with us, to ensure that the material is available for viewing. Appointments may be made through our website.
