Request copies
We provide an on-demand copy service for digital and physical copies of a range of our collection materials. This includes images, print books, looseleaf documents, videos (existing digital files only) and microfilm. Charges apply.
Some UNE staff and students are eligible for a limited number of free digital copies.
Request a copy
Submit your copy request through UNE Collection Gateway. To do this:
- Open UNE Collection Gateway
- Search for and open your item.
- Select the Request a digital copy option.
- Complete the form with details of your request.
We will send you a quote or request for further details within three (3) business days. To pay for your order:
- Open the UNE Archives payment portal.
- Complete the form details as required. Use your Copy Service quote number as your Reference number.
- Select Add to Cart
- Submit your payment details. Payment options are Credit Card or Paypal.
Once your payment has been received, your order will be processed.
- Digital copies will be delivered via Email or SharePoint within 15 business days.
- Physical copies up to 20 pages (and digital copies on USB) will be posted within 15 business days.
- Delivery timeframes for physical copies over 20 pages will be estimated in your quote.
Copy limits
Copies of records are subject to the items conditions of access. Copies are also subject to the items being in good condition. Items will not be disbound or manipulated in any way that could cause damage.
All digital copies will be added to the UNE Collections Gateway for general use (subject to the items conditions of access).

Yes. Make an appointment to visit the Heritage Centre and make your own copies for research and study. When you make your appointment include: Prefer a physical copy? You can order up to 20 pages in person. Once you submit payment (via the online portal) your request will be processed and delivered within 30 minutes. Orders greater than 20 pages in size will be queued and processed under our usual delivery timeframes. All in person copies are still subject to copy limits outlined above. Self-service microform readers are available in the UNERA Heritage Centre Reading Room. From these you can transfer your digital copies to a USB. USB flash drives are available for purchase in the Reading Room. You can specify "Rush" status in your digitisation request. A 25% surcharge applies to "Rush" orders. Postgraduate and Honours students can access up to 10 standard digital requests per calendar year. Please include your unit code and assessment requirements in your request details. All requests will be delivered via UNE Collections Gateway. Rush orders, USB’s and physical copies are not included. Undergraduate students are not eligible for free digital copies. If you require access for your academic research, apply for an exception through your Unit Coordinator. Academic staff at UNE can access free standard digital requests for course materials. Copy limits may apply When submitting a copy request for course materials, If your request is for research, please include digitisation costs in your grant applications. We can provide quotes upon request. Non-standard requests may incur charges. Please contact us to discuss costs or limits that may apply. All requests will be delivered via UNE Collections Gateway. Rush orders, USB’s and physical copies are not included. Professional staff are not eligible for this service. Some of our records are fragile and for this reason we may withhold access to the original until it has undergone conservation treatment. If records require conservation treatment there will be a delay in access and copy services. Conservation treatments can take six months or more to be completed are subject to preservation priorities within the collection management program. You will be notified of any delays or additional charges relating to conservation treatment. We are currently unable to make certified copies required for rights, entitlements, or legal purposes.Frequently Asked Questions
