Access conditions

Access records in this collection by submitting a request to use these resources. We assess each request on a case by case basis.

Access to these records is subject to approval from NSW State Archives and Records. Approval is based on the State Records Act 1998 (NSW). This is NSW State legislation about privacy and confidentiality, copyright and other intellectual property rights. Recent changes to this Act provide a general entitlement to access NSW State records that are more than 20 years old. Some records are not accessible after 20 years, however, and may be Closed to Public Access (CPA) due to the sensitive nature of the information they contain.

The Museum of History New South Wales (MHNSW) Register of Access Directions provides details on which records are open or closed to public access.
